Pricing

$11/unit
Medical indications rate — intentionally accessible.
Dr. Innes is a headache and TMJ pain sufferer himself. Because these treatments typically require more units than cosmetic injections, he prices this at $11/unit to make it accessible to patients who are genuinely suffering and could benefit. Botox Bank credits apply at this same rate.

Masseter Treatment
Jaw slimming · Teeth grinding (bruxism) · TMJ pain · Jaw tension

The masseter is the large chewing muscle on either side of the jaw. Injecting neurotoxin here is one of the most versatile and underutilized treatments we offer — and one of the most satisfying for patients who have struggled with jaw-related symptoms for years.

What It Treats

  • Teeth grinding and clenching (bruxism) — reduces muscle activity so you're not waking up with jaw soreness, headaches, or wearing down your teeth
  • Jaw slimming — a hypertrophic (enlarged) masseter creates a boxy, square jawline. Relaxing it over several treatments gradually slims the lower face and creates a softer, more oval facial contour
  • TMJ pain and jaw tension — many patients report significant relief from chronic jaw discomfort

What to Expect

  • Requires 10–50 units per side (20–100 units total) — the exact amount depends on muscle size and treatment goals
  • Results for clenching and grinding often noticed within 1–2 weeks
  • Results for jaw slimming develop slowly over 4–8 weeks as the muscle gradually atrophies — full effect may take 2–3 treatment cycles
  • Duration is typically 4–6 months — slightly longer than cosmetic areas because the masseter is such a large, active muscle

Before & After

Before Your Appointment

Migraine, Tension Headache & Head/Neck Pain
Off-label therapeutic use · Abbreviated targeted protocol · $11/unit
⚠ Important Note on Insurance

Insurance will not cover Botox for migraine when performed by a dermatologist. If insurance coverage is your priority, you should see a neurologist or pain management specialist who can bill and document this appropriately. Dr. Innes is happy to refer you in that direction if that's the right path for you.

For patients who want to pursue this out of pocket — whether because they don't meet insurance criteria, prefer not to navigate that process, or simply want to get started sooner — Dr. Innes offers it at $11/unit.

Dr. Innes' Approach — Abbreviated, Targeted Treatment

The standard FDA-approved migraine protocol involves injecting approximately 155 units across 31 fixed sites around the head, neck, and shoulders. Dr. Innes takes a different approach.

In his experience, a significantly abbreviated treatment targeting your specific problem areas often produces meaningful improvement — without the cost, time, and needle pokes of the full protocol. Rather than following a fixed map, Dr. Innes will evaluate where your headaches originate, where you carry tension, and what your primary symptoms are, and prioritize those areas first.

If your initial treatment helps but you want more coverage, there's no reason you can't return for additional units or locations. The goal is to find the minimum effective treatment for your situation — not to follow a protocol for its own sake.

How It Works

Small doses of neurotoxin are injected across targeted sites in the forehead, temples, scalp, back of the head, neck, and/or upper shoulders — interrupting the pain signaling pathways and muscle tension patterns involved in headache generation.

What to Expect

  • Treatment is tailored to your symptoms — units and sites vary by individual
  • Improvement often begins within 1–2 weeks of the first session
  • Results typically build over 1–3 treatment sessions
  • Treatments are typically repeated every 10–12 weeks
  • If the initial treatment helps but doesn't fully address your symptoms, Dr. Innes can expand coverage at your next visit

Before & After

Before Your Appointment
  • Clean skin on the scalp, forehead, neck, and shoulders
  • Let us know if you take blood thinners or fish oil/vitamin E
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before if possible
  • Be ready to describe where your headaches start, where you carry tension, and your typical headache pattern — this guides treatment planning
After Your Appointment
  • Stay upright for 4 hours after treatment
  • Avoid rubbing or massaging any injection sites
  • Avoid strenuous exercise the day of treatment
  • Mild soreness at injection sites for 1–2 days is normal
  • Most patients can return to normal activities immediately
