About Dr. Innes

Dr. Matt Innes is a board-certified dermatologist, the highest certification awarded by the American Board of Dermatology.

Dr. Innes is committed to getting to the bottom of his patients’ skin conditions. He practices medical dermatology (specializing in acne, rashes, and skin cancer) and surgical dermatology (including skin cancer, cyst, and lipoma removal).

“I enjoy the sense of accomplishment I get from fixing my patients’ skin problems,” notes Dr. Innes. “The results are visible and tangible, right before my eyes, and that is very satisfying. And because dermatology is such a visual field I can usually make a diagnosis relatively quickly. This means my patients and I can spend more time talking about the regimen to address their problem. Gone are the days of paternalistic medicine where doctors tell patients what the plan is. I enjoy listening to and partnering with my patients to make a treatment plan that is both practical and effective.

Preventive care is very important in medicine, but I love fixing problems. We see so many different conditions every single day and the challenge of helping each patient with their own unique problem excites me. Dermatology – possibly more than any other specialty in medicine – is both a science and an art. I was fortunate to train at a top-notch dermatology program and am up-to-date in the latest and greatest in the field of medical dermatology. That’s the science. The art is that five different patients with the same problem will leave with five different treatment plans customized to their circumstances. That’s what I love about my job.”

Dr. Innes enjoys boating, skiing/snowboarding, playing golf, eating out, traveling, woodworking, and spending time with his wife, Natalie, and four kids. “I love being back in Utah,” he states. “There aren’t many places where you can be skiing on great snow in the winter and great water in the summer!”
